The Planning Fallacy - EP's Three Minute Thesis Competition Entry - PSY

Dyedra Morrissey, a DPhil student from Prof Robin Murphy's Computational Psychopathology lab has won 2nd place in the "3 Minute Thesis" competition. Her talk covered her research into the Planning Fallacy, where people's expectations on the completion of tasks and meeting deadlines vary, often wildly.

2nd place in the University of Oxford 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

I won the 2nd place in the University of Oxford 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition and was awarded £100 in prize money. 

The 3 Minute Thesis competition challenges doctoral candidates to present a compelling spoken presentation on their research topic and its significance in just three minutes to a non-specialist audience." Each presenter is allowed one static power-point slide.

I was selected as one of two graduate students to present my DPhil research into Time Perception and The Planning Fallacy as part of the Pembroke College Annual Fund Series in front of 70 Donors of the college.

Pembroke Host Annual Fund Series to Thank Donors

Attendees were treated to an entertaining talk titled 'Revolting Science' from TV presenter and alumnus, Stefan Gates. He led the audience on a journey through the body; edible insects, fire extinguishers, saliva biochemistry and plenty of audience participation made for a truly unique afternoon!
